How to Turn Your Life into an Endless Vacation
I have circled the globe with my wife Kelli for the past 6 years, living in places like Fiji, Bali, Thailand and Costa Rica for months at a time.
Life is pretty much an endless vacation for us.
Sure there is trouble in paradise at times; I nearly bit the big one a few times and found myself fighting a deadly 8 inch long centipede in Thailand last month, among other wild animal encounters. Anyway, the journey has largely been enjoyable, fun and incredibly freeing.
If this life sounds intriguing or if you want to just take a vacay from your 9-5 job forever follow these tips.
1: Follow Your Passion
I love blogging. I love traveling.
Blogging From Paradise was born.
If you want to build a sustainable, thriving online business that allows you to circle the globe you need to be pulled through ups and downs, ins and outs, peaks and valleys, frustrations, desperation, elation and the jambalaya of emotions we all face by following your passion.
If you follow your passion and build your business around a topic you can talk about all day long, the work is the reward. Profits and traffic and social shares and features on top blogs are icing on the cake.
This is the perfect space to be in energetically so you can develop a 6 month to 1 year game plan for getting your business established. This also helps you avoid the pitfalls that level most aspiring online entrepreneurs.
Buy your domain and hosting. Pick a niche you feel passionate about. Study blogging from establish, professional bloggers like Darren Rowse, Zac Johnson or…..me.
When you follow your passion you lay the foundation for building a rocking online business.
2: Monetize Your Passion
Monetize your passion.
If you want to go on vacay you gotta pay the bills.
Paying the bills requires you to establish multiple streams of income.
Consider: writing and self-publishing eBooks, creating courses, offering freelance or consulting services and affiliate marketing.
What do you LOVE doing? Turn that passion into profits by honing your skills in that area and by earning profits through channels which complement your passions.
I love writing; I wrote and self-published 126 eBooks. I love blogging; I offer blog consulting services.
I earn and globe trot on my permanent vacay.
3: But First, Solve a Specific Problem for Free
Monetize to your heart’s content, 1 income stream at a time.
But offer free, valuable content to build your cyber business on a solid foundation.
Drip out free and premium content to grow your reader and customer base.
Solve 1 specific problem suffered by your readers and ideal customers.
My blog posts help you to become a better blogger. Ditto for many of my 126 eBooks, courses, audio books and services.
Offering free content helps me to establish my online reputation.
Offering premium products and services helps me build a profitable business so I can change time zones like most folks change their minds.
4: Build Your Friend Network
As Robert Kiyosaki said, the wealthiest people on earth look for and build friend networks; everyone else looks for work.
I became an island hopping pro blogger through the help of my friends. I made friends by commenting on blogs, guest posting on blogs, promoting top bloggers and persistently networking for months and years, every day.
Friends expand your reach far and wide. Friends hire you. Friends buy your courses and eBooks. Make friends with people to build a thriving online business that affords you the ability to go on an endless vacation.
5: Travel Logistics
I am a full time digital nomad. I sold many of my possessions because I’ve no need for a house, car or other stuff I used to need when I worked the 9-5 job bit.
If you want to be on vacation, like, forever, and only plan on returning home for 2-4 weeks a year, consider selling most of your stuff. Only because in many cases, these things are energetic anchors, expenses you are not enjoying or even using.
If you plan to vacation around the globe for half the year and spending half the year in your crib, have someone check your mail or buy a PO Box. Ask - or pay - a friend to start your car once a month for like 20 to 30 minutes. You can even consider asking professionals to house sit for you if you feel uncomfortable with leaving your home for a long stretch.
What tips can you add to this list?
Are you ready to make your life an endless vacation?
