Ninety-Nine Cents

Ninety-Nine Cents The book industry has some very good writers as well as authors.  Yes, there is a difference between the two.  I’ll break it down for you. A writer is someone who has written a story or an article, whether for publication or not.  An author is someone who has put their name to a story or an article.  A writer can be a freelance writer, a ghost writer, and even an author.  An author is the one who gets all the credit for the writing of a story or an article. The question of the day is, “Why would an author sell their published works for $0.99 cents?  Is there work not of value?  Why belittle the writer and the author?  Would you allow your employer to pay you $0.99 an hour for an eight hour day of work or even $0.15 cents a day?  No, you would not…that would be an insult to your knowledge and your intelligence.  Then why would you allow you to pay yourself so little?” Now let’s touch on FREE for a momen...

Find Your Target Audience

Image
Find your Target Audience Find readers of certain genres by searching for groups on Facebook or hashtags on twitter related to the theme or genre of your book. This is where you fans hide out! Get active! Join these groups, interact and chat with members, share information, read the posts and make comments. Make sure you read the group rules and follow them. Some groups will not allow any promotional posts. I'm a member of over 200 groups on Facebook, and every day I see authors abuse the rules and get booted off. If you can't promote your book in a group, don't be discouraged from joining. In discussing your mutual love of "x" genre, you might make new connections with readers who follow you back and discover you're an author, possibly leading to a sale and a new fan. For groups that allow some promotion, don't bombard their wall with advertising, because the members might get offended at the intrusion of some stranger. Introduce yourself. Ask questions. ...

Morning Question for Writers...

Image
Good Morning Everyone, Here's a question to start off the morning conversation. As an Author/Writer, do you sometimes find that you resemble one, if not all of the character(s) in your book? If so, which character(s) do you identify with?  When I wrote Intimate Moments, I found myself identifying with the character named Gisselle. I called her Ghetto but, Gisselle, is a tell it like it is, speak your mind type of Lady. Some people when they read the book, thought I was the main character, Tonju (seeking her soulmate). But in all essence, I really identified with all three female characters, Tonju, Gisselle, and Patience (who is grounded and laid back).  And with writing The J Spot, I'm getting into my main character Kevin, yes, that's right, it's a male. This is interesting as men can be a little complex, but I'm developing his character and showing his soft side, not a wimp, his caring side. Men do have that as well. LOL. Well, that was my question ...
